Music News: Greta Van Fleet Posts Cryptic Message On Social Media

Greta Van Fleet Posts Cryptic Message On Social Media

Greta Van Fleet set off a wave of fan panic yesterday after posting a cryptic 51-second video montage of home movies, music videos, and concert highlights on social media, capped with the message "Thanks for the wild ride. Love, Josh, Jake, Sam, and Daniel." The post, the band's first since celebrating the second anniversary of their album "Starcatcher" last July, immediately sent fans scrambling to figure out whether it signals a breakup or a new era; it didn’t help that their Wikipedia page was briefly edited back and forth between "is" and "was." Some fans, however, noted that the final clip in the video appears to feature unfamiliar music, pointing to a possible new album teaser. The band has not issued any statement clarifying the meaning of the post, but their official website went down briefly last night…before returning with the video as the only content. You can see the video for yourself to the right.

The Top Ten Riffs People Play In Guitar Stores

In the 1992 classic "Wayne's World," Wayne Campbell (Mike Meyers) picks up a guitar and starts picking the opening notes of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," only to be shown a sign banning amateurs from attempting the song. "No 'Stairway?' Denied!" he complains. Did that scene force guitar players to steer away from the classic in favor of other tunes? Guitar Center quizzed their managers to see what guitar hero wannabes are playing when they pick up an axe, and they came up with a Top Ten list of the songs you'll hear when some rando starts playing in-store. See the list below (and no, "Stairway" didn't make it).

The 10 Most-Played Riffs at Guitar Center

1. Metallica – “Master of Puppets.”

2. Guns N’ Roses – “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”

3. The White Stripes – “Seven Nation Army.”

4. Nirvana – “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

5. John Mayer – “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room.”

6. Metallica – “Enter Sandman.”

7. Tool – “Schism.”

8. Ozzy Osbourne – “Crazy Train.”

9. Nirvana – “Come As You Are.”

10. Deep Purple – “Smoke on the Water”
