Dave Grohl's Secret to Preserving His Vocal Cords? Alcohol and Advil
Dave Grohl screams his lungs out onstage, so you'd figure he has a regimen in place to keep his vocal cords intact.
His secret? Beer . . . Advil . . . whiskey . . . more beer . . . and more whiskey.
Dave says when he had his vocal cords checked out by a doctor eight years ago, he was impressed by how great they looked despite doing no warm-ups or cooldowns.
His routine? Quote, "An hour before the show, I'll open a beer and I'll start drinking the beer. I might take an Advil because my knees hurt, my ankles hurt . . . I'll have a shot of whiskey. Once the beer is done, I'll open another beer.
"Then we'll maybe have a group shot of whiskey, which we call 'band prayer.' Then someone will say '15 minutes' and I open one more beer and have one more shot and then hit the stage."
