TX Purple Heart Veteran Gifted Free New Home
A Purple Heart recipient in Texas received a new mortgage-free home last week through a partnership between Bank of America and the Military Warriors Support Foundation. At a ceremony on Thursday in Denton, retired U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Dekota Frear was given the keys to the home, where he’ll live with his 10-year-old son.
Frear served as an infantry machine gunner from 2012 to 2015 after being inspired to enlist following the events of September 11th. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2013, where he was wounded in combat and later awarded the Purple Heart.
The home was provided through a program supporting combat-wounded veterans and their families with housing and other services. According to a press release, Bank of America has donated more than 65-hundred residential properties, including over 27-hundred to nonprofits that assist military service members and their families.
