*LIST* Fast Food Chains With The Best Value Burgers

A quick trip through the drive-thru isn’t as affordable as it used to be, but a new study reveals where hungry people can get the most bang for their buck. Researchers with NetCredit crunched the numbers to find the fast food chain with the best value on an all-American classic - a burger.

  • They calculated the national average price per ounce of single-patty cheeseburgers at 14 of the largest burger chains nationwide.
  • The study also compares portion sizes, calories, and protein content to find the best-value fries.
  • Whataburger’s classic Whataburger lands at number one for value.
  • The Texas-based chain’s signature sandwich weighs 3.56 ounces and costs an average of $5.92, making it the largest patty in the study and the best value at $1.66 per ounce of meat.
  • McDonald’s classic cheeseburger comes in second, even with the thinnest patty, because the price is so low.
  • The All-American Smash from Smashburger has the most protein of all, with 15.7 grams per 100 grams of burger.
  • Shake Shack wins for best-value fries at 40 cents per ounce, followed by Culver's at 50 cents per ounce.
