Actor Robert Carradine took his own life yesterday. He was 71 and had been struggling with bipolar disorder for nearly two decades.
Robert is best known for playing Lewis Skolnick in the four "Revenge of the Nerds" movies. He was also Hilary Duff's dad on "Lizzie McGuire".
His family issued a statement saying, quote, "It is with profound sadness that we must share that our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother Robert Carradine has passed away.
"We are bereft at the loss of this beautiful soul and want to acknowledge Bobby's valiant struggle against his nearly two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder.
"We hope his journey can shine a light and encourage addressing the stigma that attaches to mental illness. At this time, we ask for the privacy to grieve this unfathomable loss. With gratitude for your understanding and compassion."
Robert is the son of Hollywood legend John Carradine. You'd also know his brother, Keith Carradine, as President Dalton on "Madame Secretary" and FBI Agent Frank Lundy on "Dexter". And you knew their late half-brother, David Carradine, from "Kung Fu" and the "Kill Bill" movies.
