Eric Dane's widow, Rebecca Gayheart, issued a statement on his passing yesterday. She said, quote, "I am so blown away by the outpouring of love and support from our community.
"There aren't words to express our gratitude. You are truly holding us up during this difficult time."
Also acknowledging Eric's death was his GIRLFRIEND, Janell Shirtcliff. She posted some pictures and video of the two of them on her Instagram stories.
Eric married Rebecca in 2004, and they have two daughters, ages 14 and 15. They separated in 2018, but called off their divorce last March, after Eric was diagnosed with ALS.
In an interview at the time, she said she planned to "show up" for Eric in order to be a role model for their daughters. And while they'd been separated for years, she said they were "the best of friends."
Speaking of Eric and his daughters: He offered them some life advice for an upcoming episode of the Netflix show "Famous Last Words".
He said, quote, "I tried. I stumbled sometimes, but I tried. Overall, we had a blast, didn't we?"
He also said that ALS taught him to live in the present. Quote, "I shouldn't have done this. I never should've that.' No more. Out of pure survival, I am forced to stay in the present. But I don't want to be anywhere else.
"The past contains regrets. The future remains unknown. So you have to live now. The present is all you have. Treasure it. Cherish every moment."
One last note: Someone started a GoFundMe for Eric and Rebecca's daughters, and it had raised almost $335,000 as of last night. Hailey Bieber was among the celebrities who kicked in.
