Players on the winning Super Bowl team get $178,000 from the NFL. But Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold will actually LOSE money on the game.
That's because it was played in California, which has a "jock tax". It's an additional tax on out-of-state players based on how many "duty days" they spend in the state for a game.
In Darnold's case, he'll be charged for at least eight days. Based on his $105 million, three-year contract with the Seahawks . . . plus a $2.5 million bonus for winning it all . . . he'll pay between $200,000 and $250,000 to the state.
FYI, the LOSERS get paid, too. They make $103,000.
