Super Bowl Commercials:  Did William Shatner Go Too Far?

Today's Super Bowl Ad Roundup: Did William Shatner Go Too Far?

Raisin Bran is taking a real gamble with its Super Bowl commercial, because it's loaded with scatological humor. Or should I say, SHAT-ological humor?

The add stars William Shatner, and since he's selling a high-fiber cereal, He's referred to as "Will Shat". And you can guess where it goes from there.

On a similar note, Novartis is encouraging blood screenings for prostate cancer in an ad oh-so-subtly titled "Relax Your Tight End". And it stars actual NFL tight ends like Gronk and George Kittle.

George Clooney put down his Nespresso long enough to shill for GrubHub.

Jason Kelce, David Blaine, and others contemplate the MEH life in an ad for YouTube TV.

Elijah Wood plays a furry, three-legged creature in a Skittles teaser

Apparently, the real ad will be performed on a lucky fan's front lawn.

Melissa McCarthy is an unwitting telenovela star in the ad for e.l.f. Cosmetics.

Hims & Hers didn't hire any celebrities for their ad, but they may have tapped into something even more powerful

The wealth gap . . . which, according to them, also contributes to the HEALTH gap.

Their pitch is simple: Their products and services are an affordable alternative to all the health advantages that rich people have. This won't be anyone's favorite ad on Sunday, but it might be the most effective.

(Check out a whole bunch of ads and teasers here and here.)

The latest Super Bowl ads include a Svedka Vodka commercial that was made with A.I., and Scarlett Johansson, Jon Hamm, and Bowen Yang shilling for Ritz crackers.

Svedka Vodka produced a 30-second ad featuring two robots getting down at the club with a bunch of people. And it was almost totally created with A.I.

But that doesn't mean Svedka supports the robot takeover. The company says, quote, "The entire idea of the campaign is that the robots have returned to remind the humans to be more human. Our message is ultimately pro-human."

The clip also includes a prominent appearance by O.J. Well, orange juice, anyway. Coincidence?

Xfinity Is the Early Frontrunner for Best Super Bowl Commercial

We've seen several Super Bowl commercials already, but yesterday, Comcast Xfinity blew them all out of the water.

Their ad features Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum in an ad about "Jurassic Park" . . . and how things could have gone a lot differently.

Remember the scene where Samuel L. Jackson announces that the park has gone offline, and everything goes haywire from there? Well, in this version, an Xfinity tech is on the scene, and he fixes it, no problem.

And from there, everything just works, and Jurassic Park becomes an AWESOME place, and we see digitally de-aged versions of Sam, Laura, and Jeff having the time of their lives.

The icing on the cake: It was directed by Taika Waititi, the genius behind "JoJo Rabbit", "What We Do in the Shadows", and the last two "Thor" movies.

The latest Super Bowl commercials include Taika Waititi as a polar bear's therapist for Pepsi, Kathryn Hahn pushing a trolley up the hill for Oikos, and the Duolingo owl dressed as Bad Bunny.

A polar bear does a blind taste test between Coke and Pepsi, and chooses Pepsi Zero Sugar

So the polar bear meets with a therapist played by Taika Waititi, since you know, polar bears are Coke's thing.

There's also a scene with two polar bears recreating the viral Coldplay kiss-cam moment.

Lady Gaga Sings Mr. Rogers, and More Super Bowl Ad Previews

Lady Gaga sings the Mr. Rogers song, "Won't You Be My Neighbor", in a Super Bowl ad for Rocket Mortgage . . . and to say that she makes it her own is a HUGE understatement.

Interestingly, Gaga considers it almost a protest song, considering the current state of America. Quote, "Mr. Rogers was so clearly someone that stood for something, and it's powerful to think of what he would say right now.

"It's kind of a special song to revisit at this time."

Uber Eats and Matthew McConaughey are still pushing their conspiracy theory that the NFL is designed to sell food. And now they've dragged Bradley Cooper into it.

Emma Stone and director Yorgos Lanthimos have collaborated on four films:  "The Favourite""Poor Things""Kinds of Kindness", and "Bugonia". Next up, an ad for Squarespace.

It's called "Unavailable", and not surprisingly, it looks weird.

Kendall Jenner exploits the "Kardashian Curse" to win big money betting on sports in an ad for Fanatics Sportsbook.

Nerds recruited Andy Cohen for their 2026 Super Bowl commercial.

Budweiser's Annual America-Pandering, and a Few More Super Bowl Ad Previews

Am I the only person who rolls their eyes and groans at Budweiser's attempt, year after year, to pander to our basest patriotic instincts with its Super Bowl ads? This year's might be the most transparent.

It features a lifelong friendship between a Clydesdale horse and a bald eagle, culminating in the image of the bird on the horse's back, making it look like the horse has majestic eagle wings.

How about next year, they just have Uncle Sam drop his pants, bend over, and shoot red, white, and blue firecrackers out his butt?

Okay, rant over. Here are a couple of ad teasers:

Guy Fieri ditches his goatee and spikey hair for Bosch.

William Shatner went viral the other day for eating cereal behind the wheel. But it turns out . . . it was all for Kellogg's Super Bowl commercial.

He took a few publicity photos at different locations, including the behind the wheel shot, which he says is one of the silliest photos he's ever taken.

Shatner says the actual commercial will be him inside a spaceship.

Here are a few other Super Bowl commercials we can expect to see:
