The "Stranger Things" series finale aired on New Year's Eve . . . or did it? There's a theory going viral that Episode 8 was a fake-out, and the REAL finale airs tomorrow.
They call it the "Conformity Gate" theory, and basically it suggests that Vecna won the final battle, and the flash-forward happy ending at the end of the episode is an ILLUSION he crafted . . . and the REAL final battle is yet to come.
Fans think they've spotted Easter eggs in the epilogue to support this. For example, all the students at the graduation have their hands clasped, which is what Henry would do.
There's also "WHATZIT?" board games in the background, and Mr. Whatsit is what the kids he kidnapped would call him.
As for why fans think this is happening tomorrow, it's because Netflix shared a teaser for upcoming projects on Christmas Day. It's captioned, quote, "Your future is on its way. #WhatNext Jan 7, 2026."
It all seems like a bit of a stretch and wishful thinking. So in case you get let down tomorrow, there IS a confirmed "Stranger Things" documentary on the way.
It's called "One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5", and it premieres Monday on Netflix.
