There have been stories about porch pirates following delivery trucks around . . . but I guess those drivers could be porch pirates too.
A woman in California claims an Amazon delivery driver dropped off a package last week, and then STOLE HER CAT, Piper.
She saw it happen on footage from her Ring camera. You can see the driver leave the package . . . take a photo . . . and approach a cat standing near them.
At first it looks like they are just petting the cat . . . but after a few seconds, the person grabs the cat by the scruff of its neck, and carries it back to their vehicle as its squirming around, and meowing.
It's possible that the driver thought it was a stray, and was trying to HELP it. But the woman points out that they're NOT handling the cat nicely . . . and the cat was literally on the edge of her front porch, on a suburban street, so it's strange that someone would assume it didn't have a home.
It's unclear if the cat had a collar or a microchip.
The woman complained to Amazon, and they said they're investigating. They said they DO know who that driver was . . . they just haven't contacted them. And it's been almost a week.
She also reported it to the police . . . but they told her that it could be weeks or months before they have time to look into it.
She said she'd post an update on her Instagram or TikTok when she hears back from Amazon.
There are two sides to every story . . . but if you were ACTUALLY looking out for the cat, why wouldn't you just knock on the door? How does seeing a cat for two seconds outside tell you that the cat needs to be "saved"?
