Mr. Pibb Is Making A Comeback With More Caffeine And A Spicy Twist
Mr. Pibb was first introduced by Coca-Cola back in 1972 and was a spicy cherry soda with a bit of caramel flavor and a caffeine kick. It was discontinued in 2001, when it was replaced with “Pibb Extra” with complaints from fans and continued drop in sales. Now Coca-Cola is bringing Mr. Pibb back with 30% more caffeine than Pibb Extra, a new reformulation, and a modernized can design.
It will start showing up on shelves now along with a Mr. Pibb Zero Sugar variation and is available in 20-ounce bottles and 12 ounce/12-packs. It will be introduced in the West Coast, Midwest, and Florida initially and other markets will see it in the beginning of 2026.
The new rollout of Mr. Pibb could be related to the end of Coca-Cola’s ability to distribute Dr. Pepper in certain markets when a distribution with Reyes Coca-Cola just ended. Mr. Pibb has always been a type of competitor with Dr. Pepper, hence the similarity in names, so this may be a good thing for the new version of Mr. Pibb.
