Is Dave Mustaine Reclaiming "Ride the Lightning" on the Final Megadeth Album?
There's been a lot of speculation that Dave Mustaine is "reclaiming" one of his old Metallica songs on the next Megadeth album.
The self-titled album, which is supposedly Megadeth's last . . . was reportedly going to feature a new version of "Ride the Lightning", which he co-wrote.
Metallica's version, which appeared on their 1984 album of the same name, is credited to all four band members at the time: Mustaine, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, and Cliff Burton.
Mustaine even said in an interview back in June that one of the songs on the album is, quote, "a cover song but I actually wrote it, so it's kind of like a cover, kind of like my song."
But the band released the full track list yesterday, and "Ride the Lightning" is nowhere to be seen. Fans are now wondering if it'll be a surprise addition, a bonus track . . . or maybe even a B-side. But there's no word yet from the band.
