An NBA Head Coach and Player Got Busted in A Massive Gambling Sting

A massive gambling sting resulted in the arrests of Portland Trail Blazers Head Coach Chauncey Billups and Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier.

But they were involved in two totally different schemes.

Billups is accused of helping fix high-stakes card games that cheated unsuspecting players out of at least $7 million. And the MAFIA was involved, too.

Rozier was allegedly using private information about his fellow players to win bets on NBA games.

Billups and Rozier are facing charges of money laundering and wire fraud conspiracy. The NBA has placed both of them "on leave."

They're among dozens of people who've been arrested thanks to a years-long FBI investigation. They include former assistant coach and player Damon Jones, who allegedly participated in BOTH scams.

The poker scheme involved illegal games run by the mob, and used tricks like rigged card-shuffling machines and X-ray equipment. Assault, extortion, and robbery also came into play.

As for the sports betting scam, Rozier and others not only used inside info about players to help them win bets . . . but players also altered their performances in order to rig prop bets.

In one instance, the Feds claim Rozier told people ahead of time that he was going to leave a game early due to "injury", allowing gamblers to place bets that earned them tens of thousands of dollars.

Information about other players was traded and sold.  LeBron James is one of them, but there's no indication he knew this was going on.
