What was supposed to be a fun anniversary post from Kristen Bell to Dax Shepard has completely blown up in her face.
It's gotten so bad, Kristen skipped an appearance on the "Today" show yesterday to hype Season 2 of "Nobody Wants This".
For those of you just joining us on this bizarre little journey, Kristen's post said, quote, "Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: 'I would never kill you.
"'A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I'm heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.'"
The Internet immediately jumped all over Kristen for making light of domestic abuse . . . especially since October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Even NBC's "Dateline" got into the act, dropping a comment on the post that said, "Screenshotted."
Technically, we don't know that Kristen skipped the "Today" show because of the controversy. And, as of last night, the post was still on her Instagram.
But something else happened yesterday that didn't help. A joint interview Dax and Kristen did in 2012 resurfaced . . . in which Dax jokes about an incident in which he, quote, "hit her several times."
It ends with him saying she beat him up, but still.
