Music News: Slipknot Lawyers Up Over URL Squatter

Slipknot Lawyers Up Over URL Squatter

They may not be going psychosocial over the issue, but Slipknot’s definitely going psycho-legal. The band has filed a lawsuit against the owner of the Slipknot.com domain for cybersquatting and trademark infringement. The lawsuit says the domain was registered in 2001, several years after the band formed in the mid-1990s. Since then, Slipknot has used Slipknot1.com as its official website. The Slipknot.com domain is being used to profit from the band's name by providing pay-per-click ad links for concert tickets, merchandise, and VIP packages. The band's lawyer says the domain was registered to profit off Slipknot's goodwill and trick fans into thinking it's the band's official site. The owner of Slipknot.com is unknown, with records listing only a post office box address in the Cayman Islands and an organization called Slipknot Online Services Ltd that isn't registered in any U.S. state.

And guess who the last headliner was back then? It was George!

Here's what he said, "Going back to Death Valley for the first time in more than 25 years feels pretty special . . . Can't wait to see you, Clemson."
