Shinedown Plays The Grand Ole Opry
Shinedown made their Grand Ole Opry debut on Friday night and got a standing ovation after performing three songs. Country star Carrie Underwood, who's been a fan since seeing them in concert as a college student in 2004, introduced the band. They played their hit songs "A Symptom of Being Human" and "Three Six Five," then surprised the crowd by performing a brand new song called "Searchlight" that no one had heard before. Lead singer Brent Smith said the song "came out of thin air" when they listened to the universe. The band recently made history with their 23rd number one single on rock radio and sold out Madison Square Garden on their latest tour.

The Pretty Reckless Announces Holiday EP
The Pretty Reckless, fronted by Taylor Momsen, is launching a holiday EP called "Taylor Momsen's Pretty Reckless Christmas" on October 31. The EP includes a rock version of "Where Are You Christmas," the song Momsen first sang as a child playing Cindy Lou Who in the 2000 movie "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." This is the first time she's revisited the song in 25 years. Momsen said that recording it now, with all her life, feels different, but the heart of the song, which is about wonder and hope, stays the same. The EP will also include four new original holiday songs done in the band's rock style.

Former Lostprophets Singer Killed Behind Bars
Ian Watkins, the former lead singer of Lostprophets, was killed in a prison attack on Saturday at age 48. He was stabbed by another inmate at HMP Wakefield, a high-security prison in West Yorkshire, England, with reports saying his throat was slashed after inmates were released from their cells that morning. Watkins was serving a 29-year sentence after pleading guilty in 2013 to 13 child sex charges, including the attempted rape of a baby. This wasn't his first prison attack; he was assaulted by three inmates in August 2023. Lostprophets had success in the 2000s with a chart-topping UK album and a number one hit on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart before the band broke up after Watkins' arrest. The West Yorkshire police have announced in a statement that two unnamed men, ages 25 and 43, “have been arrested on suspicion of murder” in the attack.
