This Weekend's Charlie Kirk Updates: Charlie's Killer Has Been Caught

The biggest chapter in the tragic killing of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk appears to be over. On Friday morning, the authorities announced that the alleged shooter has been caught.

Here's a quick rundown on this weekend's updates:

1. The alleged shooter is a 22-year-old man named Tyler Robinson, who lived in southwestern Utah . . . more than 200 miles from where Kirk was murdered.

2. Local authorities say Robinson is NOT cooperating with the investigation.

3. Robinson was able to escape the scene, and was only caught after being recognized from the images the FBI circulated. Several people had a hand in turning him in, including . . . his father, his roommate, and the family's pastor.

4. There's no motive for the assassination yet, but one might come to light. There's talk that the authorities have some kind of "note" that was written by Robinson . . . but they haven't released any specifics, so it's unclear if it's something incriminating, some kind of manifesto, or what.

Of course, there's a chance that Robinson cooperates, and provides a motive.

5. Robinson's family says that a while back, Tyler did mention that Kirk was coming to Utah over dinner. Tyler shared some strong feelings about him, calling Kirk "full of hate and spreading hate."

6. It sounds like the Robinson family is almost entirely Republican. Tyler was registered to vote, but does not have a party affiliation, and is listed as inactive, meaning he hasn't voted, including in last year's presidential election.

7. Robinson's family says that he had become increasingly political in recent years, although there aren't any specifics on what drove that.

8. Officials say there are signs that he had been "radicalized" but there are conflicting reports about what those intense feelings may have come from.

Some say he was using language on Discord linked to far-right influencer Nick Fuentes, who has been feuding with Kirk.

However, Tyler's roommate was reportedly a male who's in the process of transitioning to female, and they may have been in a romantic relationship. If that's the case, he may have had a problem with Kirk's anti-LGBT rhetoric.

That could line up with Tyler reportedly calling Charlie "full of hate."

9. In the entertainment world, Bill Maher has condemned "people who mocked [Kirk's] death, or justified it" . . . calling them, quote, "gross."

10.  Stephen King repeatedly apologized for his "horrible" Kirk Tweet.  (He had Tweeted, "He advocated stoning gays to death. Just sayin.'")

11.  Coldplay asked fans to "send love" to Kirk's family.

12. A Charlie Kirk memorial event is scheduled for September 21st in Arizona.

Utah Governor Says Roommate Of Alleged Charlie Kirk Assassin Cooperating, Suspect Isn't

Utah Governor Spencer Cox provided new details about the Charlie Kirk assassination investigation during morning show appearances yesterday, revealing that suspected shooter Tyler Robinson was in a romantic relationship with his roommate. Cox said the roommate, who is transitioning from male to female, was "shocked when they found out about it" and has been "very cooperative" with investigators. Federal officials told "NBC News" that investigators have been interviewing the roommate and confirmed there appears to be a romantic relationship, though they still don't have "a solid understanding" of how this personal relationship factors into the attack. When asked how the roommate's transition was relevant to the suspect's motive, Cox said, "That's what we're trying to figure out right now" and noted it's easy to draw conclusions but they're still piecing together forensic evidence including shell casings. When asked about Trump blaming the “radical left,” Cox emphasized that Americans shouldn't base their reactions on what any political leader says.
