How They Are Going To Fix Hooters

 

 Hooters has been on life support for a while, and behind the scenes, people are trying to figure out how to administer a defibrillator . . . without it looking too naughty.  

 

 

Earlier this year, Hooters announced plans for a makeover to make it more "family-friendly." But since then, more locations have closed . . . and during the bankruptcy hearings, there's been a battle for control.

 

 

One of the current bosses, Neil Kiefer, thinks he can turn things around . . . by balancing the family-friendly thing AND the tongue-in-cheek sexy vibe. He says you can expect it to be, quote, "delightfully tacky."

 

 

Waitresses would still wear orange shorts, but not the bikini-style bottoms that some locations introduced a while back.

 

 

He adds, "I don't think you're going to see a bunch of butt cheeks hanging out."

 

 

Kiefer also wants to fix up locations that are run down . . . update the menu that has grown too long . . . and keep prices reasonable, because times are tough right now for many Americans.

 

 

The hard part is: Giving people a reason to come back to Hooters, when restaurants with better food are struggling to attract customers.

 

 

A gimmick CAN separate your place from the pack . . . and Hooters has that . . . but it needs a fresh spin. What worked when Hooters first opened 42 years ago, clearly won't cut it anymore.

This Is Why Today’s Twinkies Taste Completely Different From The Original Version

The iconic Twinkies snack cakes had their origin back in 1930, with a sponge cake filled with strawberry crème from Continental Baking Company, the owner of the Hostess brand at the time. Strawberries were seasonal, so the first Twinkies were made with banana crème filling with real bananas since they were readily available year-round. During World War II, bananas were in short supply so Twinkies with vanilla crème were introduced, and that’s the flavor most of us remember to this day. 

Banana Twinkies have made a few comebacks since then in limited releases, but in 2007 Banana Twinkies were finally available for good. You can buy Banana Twinkies on Amazon, but they aren’t made with the original recipe using real bananas even though they are banana-flavored. 

Today’s Banana Twinkies are “artificially flavored” and one of the ingredients is banana puree. The new version contains less than 2% of an actual banana, and the flavor is significantly different from the original. Unfortunately, other ingredients include hydrogenated vegetable shortening, cellulose gum, polysorbate 60, and beef fat, so if you’re looking for that original flavor, you’re probably out of luck.
