The Four Commandments for Eating on an Airplane

Have you ever been on a plane and someone opens up their stinky tuna fish sandwich, and starts munching away?

Considering you're in a self-contained tube, with little to no circulation . . . it's one of the rudest things you can do on an airplane.

Here's what an etiquette expert had to say, "The most important etiquette rule on an airplane is that you've got to stay within your bubble. Physically stay within your bubble. Sounds need to stay within your bubble. And, of course, smells need to stay within your bubble."

According to the expert, here are the four commandments of eating on a plane:

1.  Thou Shall Not Eat Smelly Foods. No tuna, no garlic or onion, no hard-boiled eggs, or strong cheeses . . . and for the love of all that is holy, no fish or seafood.

2.  Thou Shall Not Eat Messy Foods. This includes things like ribs, powdered doughnuts, spaghetti, chili dogs, nachos, and sloppy joes.

3.  Thou Shall Not Eat Foods with Allergens. A bag of peanuts, or a packet of peanut butter would be safer for everyone if it was consumed in an area with open air.

4.  Thou Shall Not Overindulge. Here's what the expert said, "Overindulging in alcohol can be a nuisance in itself, plus alcohol can dehydrate you and amplify the effects of the altitude . . . Staying hydrated will make your flight much more enjoyable."

Here are some of the BEST foods to eat on an airplane: Dried or fresh fruit . . . crackers . . . chips . . . pretzels . . . a meat and cheese snack pack . . . hummus and vegetables . . . a muffin . . . chocolate . . . and a granola or protein bar.
