Remember when the biggest concern was that your cell phone was eavesdropping on what you were saying? Now, it's watching you undress.
Rumor has it that Apple's upcoming iOS 26 update will include a "feature" that detects if you're having phone sex over FaceTime.
It'll pause your camera, and a warning screen pops up that says: "You may be showing something sensitive. If you feel uncomfortable, you should end the call." Then there are two buttons: "Resume audio and video" or "End call."
It's supposed to be a "security feature" . . . but some people online are creeped out about Apple KNOWING when they're being naughty.
Apple hasn't commented . . . so it's still a rumor for now . . . but multiple people who are beta-testing the new software update have seen it in action.
A couple things to note:
1. There is a place in your device's settings where you can turn this "Sensitive Content Warning" ON or OFF . . . so it doesn't always have to be a buzzkill if this is something that you do regularly.
There are conflicting reports about whether the DEFAULT will be on or off.
2. Apple is (probably) NOT spying on your naughty chats. The images on FaceTime are analyzed using machine learning locally, on your phone . . . and nothing is transmitted to Apple.
iOS 26 will be released sometime in September, with or without this "feature."
(Here's a SAFE FOR WORK look at the warning.)
