Matthew McConaughey is speaking out after devastating floods tore through his home state of Texas over the Fourth of July weekend. In a heartfelt Instagram message, the Uvalde native wrote, “At least 70 lives have been lost, many more are unaccounted for, and countless Texans are hurting - inside and out.” As of Today, that number had sadly climbed to at least 104 people.
The floods were triggered by extreme rainfall along the Guadalupe River, swamping parts of the Hill Country and leaving entire communities reeling. The actor shared "If you're able, please lend a helping hand where and how you can. It's gonna be a long road ahead, but right now the shock, the pain, and the chaos need the steady hand of a neighbor. Texans are some of the most resilient and generous people on the planet."
