Did Metallica Steal the Riff for "Enter Sandman"?
Did Metallica steal the riff for their biggest hit? It's not a new allegation, but Dave Mustaine brought it up again in a recent interview.
As you probably know, Dave was relieved of his duties as Metallica's guitarist before they made it big. But he retained writing credits on several of their early classics, including "Ride the Lightning" and "Call of Ktulu".
But it seems like he'll be talking about Metallica for the rest of his life. To be fair, it's partly because people will never stop ASKING him about it.
Anyway, in this new interview, Dave suggested fans look up a 1989 song called "Tapping Into the Emotional Void", by the band Excel. And if you do, you'll have a hard time denying they sound really similar.
Excel thought about suing back when "Sandman" first came out in 1991, but they decided a lengthy, expensive legal battle just wasn't worth it.
Instead, they hoped "Sandman" would call more attention to them and help their careers. (Not sure that strategy worked so well.)

Ozzy Osbourne Gets His Blood Pressure Taken 15 Times a Day
Ozzy Osbourne is taking his final show on July 5th very seriously.
Quote, "All I can say is I'm giving 120 percent. If my God wants me to do the show, I'll do it."
Ozzy says he hasn't done any physical work for the last seven or so years. Quote, "By hook or by crook, I'm gonna make it there. I've got this trainer guy who helps people get back to normal.
"I'm giving it everything I've got. It's endurance. The first thing that goes when you're laid up is your stamina . . . I am having my blood pressure taken 15 times a day. I've got this [effing] device on my finger. It's a monitor [for] my heart rate."
He also added that he has bad ADHD, in addition to Parkinson's disease.

John Fogerty Is Releasing "Taylor's Versions" of Old Creedence Songs
Here's how influential Taylor Swift is: Even 80-year-old men who were topping the charts two decades before she was born are copying her.
John Fogerty has a new album coming out August 22nd called "Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years".
It features 20 re-recorded versions of Creedence classics like "Proud Mary", "Down on the Corner", and "Fortunate Son", to name a few.
John jokingly claims he actually fought to call the project "Taylor's Version". And he actually does put "John's Version" in parentheses after the song titles.
He's already released three of them: "Up Around the Bend", "Have You Ever Seen the Rain", and "Porterville".
He says, quote, "For most of my life I did not own the songs I had written. Getting them back changes everything. Legacy is my way of celebrating that, of playing these songs on my terms, with the people I love."
