Lady Gaga played for 2.5 MILLION people during a free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday. That broke the record for the highest-attended concert by a female artist in HISTORY.
Madonna can't be happy about that, because it's HER record Gaga broke. Madonna played for 1.6 million people on that same beach almost exactly one year ago.
In a message posted yesterday, Gaga said, quote, "Thank you Rio for waiting for me to come back. Thank you, Little Monsters all over the world. I love you.
"I will never forget this moment. Paws up little monsters. Obrigada. Love, Mother Monster."
The show went off without a hitch despite an attempted ATTACK by an anti-LGBTQ group that tried to recruit teenagers to BOMB the show with Molotov cocktails and improvised explosives.
Brazilian police raided the homes of 15 suspects in several states across the nation. Two people were arrested, including the group's leader.
Gaga's reps said they only heard about the plot AFTER the show, and there were, quote, "no known safety concerns, nor any communication from the police or authorities to Lady Gaga regarding any potential risks."
