Music News: Is Linkin Park Having Trouble Selling Tickets?

Is Linkin Park Having Trouble Selling Tickets

Linkin Park minus Chester Bennington is proving to be a hard sell. The band had to bag its scheduled show at Dodger Stadium in September, and move it to the Intuit Dome in Inglewood.

That means they're dropping from a 56,000-seat stadium to an 18,000-seat arena. Also, Queens of the Stone Age dropped off the bill.

This isn't the only show Linkin Park is having trouble selling tickets to. They've also announced a new promotion for all their U.S. shows, where you can buy a ticket for $39.50 and get a randomly-assigned seat.

And they've apparently canceled shows in Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Some people are putting a lot of blame for this on new singer Emily Armstrong, due to her ties to Scientology and her support of convicted rapist Danny Masterson . . . which she later said she regretted.

Papa Roach Gives New Music Update

Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix has revealed that the band’s next album will come out next year. Their latest single, “Even If It Kills Me,” is the first track from that upcoming record and a really early peek at the new record. The band plans to release more music throughout the year and expects the album to have about 10 or 11 songs. Shaddix shared that they’re also going on a big tour, including stops in the U.S., Europe, Latin America, Australia, and possibly Southeast Asia. He said he’s been working in the studio between tour dates to finish the album. The new music, including a reimagined version of “Even If It Kills Me,” was inspired in part by his son’s painful breakup, and Shaddix hopes it connects with fans on a deeper level.

Founding Monster Magnet Drummer Diagnosed With ALS

Unfortunate news for Monster Magnet fans. Tim Cronin, drummer and founding member of the band, has been diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). ALS is a progressive, incurable neurodegenerative disease that causes muscle weakness, paralysis, and eventual respiratory system failure. Beyond the diagnosis itself, the disease is often referred to as "the bankruptcy disease" due to the significant and increasing financial burden it places on families. Cronin's family is hoping fans will step forward to ease the financial burden; a GoFundMe shooting for $75-thousand has already raised $55-thousand since being created over the weekend. Cronin helped shape Monster Magnet's early sound by contributing to vocals, bass and drums for the first few years of the band's existence.
