I don't want to accuse Corey Feldman of lying . . . but I wouldn't be surprised if he's stretching the truth a little here . . .
On Billy Corgan's podcast, he claimed he was up for two of Leonardo DiCaprio's biggest roles.
First, he said he was actually CAST as Arnie in 1993's "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" . . . but then Johnny Depp joined the cast and got him fired.
Quote, "He [told the producers] that I was a junkie and that he didn't work with junkies . . . [But] I was sober. I had just gotten sober.
"I had just gotten out of rehab. I had turned my life around, and, in fact, was trying to help River [Phoenix] at the time, who [Depp] was running with at the time, as we all know."
Then there was "Titanic", which he claimed he was, quote, "in contention" for. But he adds, quote, "That was okay, because that one I wasn't as close."
Corey also said he got "pretty close" to winning the role of Samwise Gamgee in the "Lord of the Rings" movies . . . a part that went to his "Goonies" co-star Sean Astin.
Corey said, quote, "I couldn't have gained the weight, so I'll give him that. He did a great job aesthetically being able to add that weight. It's something I cannot physically do."
