George Foreman Passes Away At 76
Boxing legend and grill pitchman George Foreman passed away on Friday at the age of 76. Few professional athletes have been able to transcend their sports as impressively as Foreman. He was a 1968 gold-medal Olympian, a two-time heavyweight champ and Boxing Hall of Famer, with his most legendary fight being the Rumble in the Jungle against Muhammed Ali in 1974. Foreman lost that fight, but it remains one of the most famous fights ever. After ten years in retirement, Foreman returned to the ring in 1987 and became the oldest man to ever hold a heavyweight championship when he put Michael Moorer down for the count in 1994 at the age of 45. Later, Foreman became synonymous with the George Foreman Grill burger cooker, which reportedly earned him $4.5 million monthly at the height of its popularity. Foreman had 12 children with his wife, Mary Joan Martelly, seven daughters and five sons…and all five sons were also named George.
