Clay Walker Will Play Randy Travis in an Upcoming Biopic

Pretty cool news this week that Randy Travis is getting his own movie. And another big country star is playing him . . . Clay Walker.

They announced it at the Grand Ole Opry on Wednesday night. The title is "Forever and Ever, Amen" after his 1987 hit and 2019 memoir.

Randy's wife Mary told "People" magazine they want to "tell [his] life story just as he lived it." Clay said it's a story of "deep struggles," "redemption," and a man who's overcome a lot of challenges. He called it a story that deserves to be told.

Clay is 55, so he'll obviously play him in his older years, with younger actors also stepping in. Randy was 54 when a stroke robbed him of his voice in 2013.

They plan to start filming this summer in Nashville and North Carolina, and say it'll hit theaters sometime next spring.

In other Randy news: He added 30 more dates to his More Life Tour this week. He'll wrap up the initial run in May and return to the road in August. James Dupré will continue to perform with him at those gigs.
