There's still no word how Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa died. But someone posed an interesting theory. And that someone is Dr. Michael Baden, a world-famous forensic pathologist.
No, he's not working on the case, but he's seen the reports, and he says this is how it MIGHT have gone down:
Given the evidence from Gene's pacemaker, Baden says he may have suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed.
As you may recall, Betsy was found on the floor in the bathroom, with a space heater on the floor next to her, and an open prescription bottle on the counter with pills scattered everywhere.
Baden says she may have run to the bathroom to get Gene's blood pressure medication, and fallen herself. It's possible she had a cardiac event of her own. She wasn't known to be in bad health, but she WAS 65 and under severe stress.
Or it could have just been an accidental fall which caused her to hit her head. Authorities found no evidence of blunt force trauma, but she could have suffered an INTERNAL injury, like a brain bleed, that didn't leave a mark.
As for the dog that died, it was constrained in its cage or kennel, so it probably died from dehydration, because it didn't have access to water for nine days.
Baden's theory would also explain why Betsy didn't call 911. Her first priority was getting to Gene's medication, and she died in the process.
Here's another theory that's maybe slightly less plausible: The STAR WHACKERS are back.
Remember when Randy Quaid lost his mind and started ranting about some secret cabal that was killing off celebrities and stealing their fortunes?
He said it was the Star Whackers who took out Heath Ledger, David Carradine, and other dead celebrities. And now, according to him, they got to Hackman.
