Six MLB Bounce Back Teams For 2025

With Spring Training now in full swing, we can take an optimistic view of which teams might have a bounce-back year this season. The Athletic has put a spotlight on these six teams…

  • Texas Rangers – Getting Jake Burger and signing Joc Pederson helps their home run potential and their rotation looks “stronger and deeper”
  • Boston Red Sox – They were aggressive this offseason in rebuilding their overall pitching staff, which will help dramatically. Plus, they have plenty of youth just waiting to break out
  • Arizona Diamondbacks – Yeah, they lost Christian Walker, but they rebounded when they landed Josh Naylor. The resurgence of Corbin Carroll and an already deep defense should help them make some noise
  • Chicago Cubs – Adding Kyle Tucker gives them a stout outfield, and Matt Shaw is showing signs of being a better hitter and defender than his predecessor, Isaac Paredes, who was traded to nab Tucker
  • Cincinnati Reds – They severely underachieved last season, and new manager Terry Francona is just the guy to bring discipline and fundamentals to right the ship and this exciting young team playing up to, and beyond, their potential
  • Seattle Mariners – They’ve got one the best-starting rotations and bullpens in the game. Now, Dan Wilson needs his coaches to inspire the offense to keep up

History Says These Three Teams Have The Best Shot At Winning NBA Title

With less than two months left to play in the regular season, this is the time when NBA teams truly start trying as they make their runs for postseason positions. Phil Jackson famously coined the 40/20 benchmark under the believe that a team can’t truly be considered a “contender” unless they win 40 games before losing 20. While there are always exceptions to the rule, it’s worth pointing out that 46 of the last 50 NBA champs were 40/20 teams.

Based on that metric, one of these three teams will be this year’s NBA champion – the Boston Celtics, the Oklahoma City Thunder, or the Cleveland Cavaliers.
