  • Team USA answered with a goal off the stick of Brady Tkachuk with just over three minutes to play in the first period.

Falcons “Birdlady” Arrested For “Tailgates Gone Awry”

For years, Carolyn Freeman has gained notoriety among Atlanta Falcons fans as the “Birdlady.” Her elaborate costume, including large wins, has made her a local celebrity, earning her a city proclamation and an appearance on a billboard. Things aren’t so rosy for the “birdlady” these days, however, after she was hit with theft by deception allegations. The charges came on January 9th, following Freeman being walked out of Mercedez-Benz Stadium on November 3rd. Her problems reportedly stem from reports of “a buyer beware saga of tailgates gone awry.”

  • A complaint was filed with the IRS alleging Freeman abused the nonprofit status of “Birdlady Cares, Inc.” for “fraudulent business purposes”…which she denies
  • The trouble involves what was advertised as a tailgate party that was supposed to happen prior to a prime-time game on September 22nd
  • A couple of months before the game, a couple of Kansas City Chiefs fans reportedly reached out to Freeman “for help organizing an event for hundreds of fellow fans”
  • Freeman allegedly responded with “an array of ideas about services she could offer,” including “decorated event space, a tent, food and beverages, live entertainment, games, a projection screen, golf cart shuttle service, and ‘a surprise celebrity guest performance”
  • Allegedly, a contract was signed, and $14K was transferred to Freeman, but when game day came around, there was no sign of Freeman or a tailgate party

When confronted, excuses reportedly included that she was running late because of a “broken trailer,” a “hospital stay,” and that she’d been “stopped by police” while heading to the game.
