This Year's Rock Hall Nominees Include Mariah Carey, the Black Crowes, Oasis, Outkast, and Finally . . . Chubby Checker
Nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2025 were announced yesterday. Here's the rundown:
This year's first timers are: Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Maná, Outkast, Phish, and . . . finally . . . Chubby Checker.
Chubby's still with us, by the way. He's 83 years old, and he's been living off two hits for the past 60-plus years: "The Twist" and "Let's Twist Again". Three if you count "Limbo Rock".
But he's been wanting in the Rock Hall for a long time. In 2001, he took out a full-page ad in "Billboard" arguing for his inclusion. In 2002, he protested outside the induction ceremony when he didn't get in.
Anyway, the rest of this year's nominees are: Mariah Carey, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, Oasis, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes.
The Class of 2025 will be announced in April, and the induction ceremony will occur next fall in Los Angeles.
