David Lynch died yesterday after battling emphysema brought on by years of smoking. He was 78.
Lynch's one-of-a-kind filmography includes "Eraserhead", "The Elephant Man", "Blue Velvet", "Mulholland Drive", "Wild at Heart", "Lost Highway", the original movie version of "Dune", and the TV show "Twin Peaks".
Steven Spielberg said, quote, "The world is going to miss such an original and unique voice. His films have already stood the test of time and they always will."

Another notable death occurred yesterday: Bob Uecker, the former Major League Baseball player who never really got that famous for playing baseball, left us after a battle with lung cancer. He was 90.
Uecker played in the Majors from 1962 to 1967, and his stats didn't set the world on fire. But he became famous for his sense of humor. He spent more than 50 years behind the microphone for the Milwaukee Brewers.
And he REALLY became a star thanks to his Miller Lite ads in the '80s.
He also appeared in all three "Major League" movies, and the sitcom "Mr. Belvedere". And, like Pete Rose, he never made it into the Baseball Hall of Fame, but he WAS enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame.
