Robert De Niro isn't playing a mob boss in his upcoming movie. Been there, done that. Instead, he's playing TWO mob bosses.
In "The Alto Knights", he'll play real-life gangsters Vito Genovese and Frank Costello . . . who start off as allies, then end up in a deadly battle for control of New York City.
And this might sweeten the pot: It was written by Nicholas Pileggi, who also wrote two of De Niro's best mob movies, "Goodfellas" and "Casino".
"The Alto Knights" hits theaters on March 21st.
