Here's how social media algorithms can make even the dumbest conspiracy theories take off.
Last Monday, someone flying out of San Francisco posted a video of the Golden Gate Bridge from their plane, and said the pilot told everyone to take "one last glimpse" of it.
All they meant was it was their last chance to see it on the way out. But a misunderstanding had people thinking something nefarious was about to happen.
Other people on TikTok started posting videos claiming the bridge was about to disappear or get destroyed in some way.
