Do "Saturday Night Live" Cast Members Really Only Make This Much?

"New York" magazine asked past and present "Saturday Night Live" cast members what their biggest splurge was when they got their first paycheck from the show.

And it turns out they couldn't do much . . . because the pay is ATROCIOUS.

Pete Davidson told the magazine, quote, "Do you guys know what they pay us? It's, like, three grand an episode. I think I got dinner."

James Austin Johnson . . . the guy who currently plays Donald Trump . . . got, quote, "the most uncomfortable West Elm couch of all time."

Cheri Oteri also bought a couch, which she apparently still has.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus bought a $75 pair of shoes that were, quote, "out of my budget."

Sarah Silverman bought a $300 cashmere sweater, and Sarah Sherman bought a "nice mattress."

Seth Meyers got a really big couch, and a really big TV to match.

Bowen Yang bought a pair of Gucci shoes that he, quote, "wouldn't feel super cool wearing out now."

And Rachel Dratch and Jason Sudeikis both spent the money on rent. As Jason said, quote, "You don't make enough money to make big purchases."

FYI, if Pete's claim of $3,000 per episode is legit, that means a cast member who's on every episode in a season would earn between $54,000 and $66,000.
