Have you ever heard the theory that Jenny is the VILLAIN in "Forrest Gump"?
She pops in and out of his life whenever it's convenient for her, and doesn't commit to him until she finds out she has an incurable disease. Oh, and she brings along their son, whom she never bothered to tell him about.
Well, Stephen Colbert asked Robin Wright about that on his show this week, and it turns out that she hadn't heard that theory until just before the show. But she kind of agreed with it.
She said, quote, "Think about how she treated Forrest . . . not great."
It's interesting that Robin doesn't have a defense for her own character, because there IS one, and it's pretty solid. Jenny was sexually abused by her father. To put it mildly, stuff like that tends to leave a psychological mark.
So, HE is the real villain.
