But people in their 20s and 30s have been prepping for almost seven weeks. And people who say they "go big" on Halloween have been planning since mid-August.

According to the National Retail Federation, we'll spend $11.6 billion on Halloween this year, or around $104 per person.
That includes $3.8 billion on costumes, another $3.8 billion on decorations, $3.5 billion on candy, and half a billion on Halloween greeting cards.
