Gene Simmons Not Impressed With Flea's Bass Playing
Gene Simmons is apparently not a fan of Flea. In an interview with Guitar World, Simmons said that the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist wasn’t “memorable” to him. He compared Flea to a different musical genre to make his point, saying, “We’re going to play a game: name a jazz player that means something.” He threw out the name of jazz fusion pioneer John McLaughlin as an example of a great player, but said “Can you hum any melody that he’s ever played on a solo? Of course not.” There’s no word on what Flea thinks of KISS.
