Green Day Is Re-Releasing "Dookie" on the Most Inconvenient Formats Possible . . . And It's Hilarious.
Green Day is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their 1994 album "Dookie" with the coolest re-release EVER. Check it out:
They're releasing "Demastered" versions of each song individually, each loaded into an outdated and extremely inconvenient piece of "tech".
"Burnout" is on a player piano roll.
"Having a Blast" is on a floppy disc.
"Chump" is on a Teddy Ruxpin.
"Longview" is on a doorbell.
"Welcome to Paradise" is on a Game Boy cartridge.
"Pulling Teeth" is on a toothbrush.
"Basket Case" is on a Big Mouth Billy Bass.
"She" is on a HitClip.
"Sassafras Roots" is on an 8-track tape.
"When I Come Around" is on a super old-school wax cylinder.
"Coming Clean" is on an X-ray record.
"Emenius Sleepus" is on an answering machine.
"In the End" is on MiniDisc. (If you've worked in radio long enough, you used these for a hot minute!)
"F.O.D." is on a Fisher Price record.
And "All By Myself" is on a music box.
Just to be clear, you can't stream these songs. You have to buy the actual physical media the songs are recorded on. Like, if you want to hear "Chump", you have to literally buy the Teddy Ruxpin and listen to the song through it.
Each song is only available in limited quantities, and you have to enter a drawing for the opportunity to purchase them. Mr. Ruxpin is the most expensive item, at $99. Some are as low as $19, like the floppy disc and the 8-track.
You can enter at DookieDemastered.com, but you only have until Friday.
