John Amos passed away August 21st, although his death was just announced yesterday. He was 84.
Amos was best known as James Evans, the dad on the '70s sitcom "Good Times". He also played the older Kunta Kinte on the miniseries "Roots" and Cleo McDowell in "Coming to America" and its 2021 sequel.
His big career break was playing the weatherman Gordy Howard on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."
Frank Fritz from "American Pickers" also died Monday. He was only 60. He died of complications from a stroke he suffered a few years ago.

On Monday, we also lost Ken Page, a Broadway actor best known as the voice of the villain Oogie Boogie in "The Nightmare Before Christmas." His rep says he died peacefully at his home in St. Louis. He was 70 years old.
