3 Things You Must See: Leaky Fire Hydrant Turned into a Goldfish Pond Drama

Someone Turned a Leaky Fire Hydrant into a Goldfish Pond, and It's Caused Major Drama

Here's how a fun idea can go sideways: Someone in New York turned a leaky fire hydrant into a makeshift koi pond, and it's caused a whole lot of drama.

The hydrant is in Bed-Stuy (bed-stai), a neighborhood in Brooklyn. It's not clear if it was already leaking, or if someone opened it up. But earlier this month, a guy bought a hundred goldfish at a pet store for $16 . . . dumped them in the puddle . . . and they've been thriving.

A group of neighbors have been feeding them three times a day, and it's become a local landmark after videos went viral. People are showing up to feed the fish and take pictures. Some are calling it the "Bed-Stuy Aquarium."

But unfortunately, the city of New York does NOT love the idea. They say the leaky hydrant could "impact the availability of water" if there's a fire, or affect water pressure within the whole system.

They've sent workers out to turn it off multiple times. But people keep turning it back on to save the fish and keep the puddle from drying up.

The city put out a statement saying, "We love goldfish also, but we know there is a better home for them than on a sidewalk." And it sounds like the "better home" idea might catch on eventually.

The people who've been feeding the fish said they'll distribute them to kids around the neighborhood if they need to. But they'd like to keep the pond going as long as possible.

Someone started a GoFundMe, hoping to raise enough money to make it a permanent tourist attraction . . . which doesn't seem very realistic.

The fish won't survive once the temperature drops. And things like birds, dogs, cats, and RATS could eventually gobble them up.

People have also been stealing the fish to either save them, or to take home as souvenirs.

A retired Marine in Pennsylvania named Joseph DeMarco just turned 100 years old. And people in his town threw him a big surprise party with a police escort and special guests.

The mayor of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania showed up for it, and so did U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick. Joseph enlisted in the Marines after the attack on Pearl Harbor, and forged his parents' signature because he was only 17.

How Much Does a Fart Affect the Air Quality in Your Car?

A guy in Texas got a new Mercedes with a sensor that tracks the air quality in the cabin. And he's been testing different things to see how much they affect it.

It started when his friend vaped in his car, and they saw the air quality get WAY worse for a few seconds.

(Warning! There's profanity in the video.)

But the best video is the one where he tests a FART.

He slid down in his seat to get right next to where the sensor was.
