A Store Clerk Stole a $1 Million Lottery Ticket.
There are a lot of ways to discover that you've won the lottery . . . but THIS is a new one.
A man in Tennessee found out that he won a $1 million jackpot . . . when detectives called to tell him his winning ticket had been stolen.
The guy bought two scratch-off tickets from a Shell gas station . . . and to save time, he just scratched off the bar codes and asked the clerk to see if they came up as winners. The clerk told him one was a winner for $40, which was true . . . and the other was a loser, which was NOT true. So he trashed it.
After the customer left the store, the clerk took out the trash, and pocked the ticket he'd trashed. It turns out, it was a $1 MILLION winner.
The clerk went to the Tennessee Lottery Commission to claim the ticket as his own . . . but during some routine questioning, the officials got suspicious. They reviewed the security cameras and figured out what happened.
The detective said, "It's pretty obvious. Good enough to put in front of 12 jurors and they'll reach the same conclusion."
They looked through all the security footage and figured out who the RIGHTFUL owner of the ticket was, and notified them.
The clerk is now facing a felony theft charge.
