Here's Why Taylor Swift Is *Not* a Role Model for Your Kids

Taylor Swift is literally one of the most influential people on the planet right now, especially for young girls. But is that a good thing? A writer for "Newsweek" doesn't think so.

His name is John Mac Ghlionn, and he wrote an opinion piece called "Taylor Swift Is Not a Good Role Model." Here's why he feels that way:

For starters, she's unmarried and childless at 34. And this one makes the writer sound like he could be a placekicker for the Kansas City Chiefs.

But he says, quote, "We must ask if her personal life choices are ones we want our sisters and daughters to emulate."

If you're not on board with that one, it's understandable. But it's somewhat related to the author's next point, which is Taylor's, quote, "revolving door of relationships."

Quote, "Would any loving parent reading this want their daughter to date 12 different men in the span of just a few years?"

Then there's the supposed HYPOCRISY of Taylor's attacks on the patriarchy, when she tends to date, quote, "strong, influential men . . . celebrities who embody significant social and economic power."

He says, quote, "Swift either doesn't realize this [hypocrisy] or doesn't care. Neither of the two is a good look."

The author makes a few other points, like the way Taylor always plays the victim in her breakups, and the fact that she makes it seem like, quote, "partners can be replaced as easily as toilet paper."

And he says, quote, "[Taylor's] life, meticulously managed by a PR machine, represents a filtered façade rather than genuine reality.

"What young girls truly need, perhaps without fully recognizing it, are role models who provide both authenticity and actual depth, rather than artificial narratives and superficial glamor."
