The evil President Snow from the "Hunger Games" movies is dead. But it's nothing to celebrate, because he was one of the great actors of this or any generation.
His name, of course, was Donald Sutherland, and he passed away yesterday after an undisclosed "long illness". He was 88. And he was known for a LOT more than "The Hunger Games".
He was Hawkeye in the original movie version of "M*A*S*H", and the horny, pot-smoking professor in "Animal House".
His other classics included "The Dirty Dozen", "Kelly's Heroes", "Klute", the '70s remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", "Ordinary People", "Backdraft", and "JFK".
He was also in the 1973 horror flick "Don't Look Now", which is notorious for a sex scene he did with Julie Christie . . . a scene which, to this day, people claim was NOT FAKED.

Donald was also the father of Kiefer Sutherland, who said, quote, "With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away. I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film.
"Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived."
