A thrill ride in Portland, Oregon got a little TOO thrilling on Friday, and left over two dozen people hanging upside down for close to 30 minutes.
It happened at Oaks Park, the oldest amusement park in Oregon. It's been in business since 1905, but the ride itself opened in 2021.
It's called "AtmosFEAR" (like "atmosphere"). It's a pendulum ride that swings 360 degrees while the circle everyone sits in is also spinning.
It got stuck pointing straight up, and all 28 people were upside down. Witnesses said they stayed calm for the first few minutes, then started to panic. Most were apparently high-school age.
Officials decided to close the park, and announced it over the loudspeaker. Then while people were filtering out, workers were able to manually lower the ride . . . which apparently happened quite suddenly.
