Back in November, Diddy's ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura sued him for rape and abuse. Her allegations included a claim that Diddy physically assaulted her in a hotel hallway in March of 2016.
Cassie also claimed that Diddy paid the hotel $50,000 for security footage that captured the assault. Through his attorney, Diddy called her claims "offensive and outrageous" . . . but he still settled with her the next day.
He did NOT admit guilt, but now we know why he settled so quickly. On Friday, CNN posted that surveillance video, and it's horrifying.
It shows Diddy punching Cassie, kicking her while she's down, dragging her by her sweatshirt, and throwing a vase at her.
(WARNING: You can see it here, but it's really violent and disturbing.)
Yesterday, two days after the video surfaced, Diddy posted an apology on Instagram, saying he was at "rock bottom" when the incident occurred.
He added, quote, "I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then when I did it. I'm disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab.
"I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry. But I'm committed to be a better man each and every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly sorry."
And by the way, if you're thinking Diddy should be behind bars for this, don't get your hopes up. The L.A. District Attorney's Office says that if this happened in 2016, the statute of limitations has already run out.
