This will be old news to those of you who watched the Apple TV+ series WeCrashed earlier this year. The show dramatized the rise and fall of WeWork, the "coworking space" company that was once one of the world's most valuable startups. The story focuses largely on Adam Neumann (Jared Leto) and Rebecca Neumann (Anne Hathaway), the co-founder and chief brand officer of the company, respectively.
WeCrashed includes a scene, based on a real incident, where Hathaway's character goes overboard dressing up for a Halloween party at her children's school. She went as a Na'vi, one of the blue aliens from James Cameron's Avatar. This meant the production needed to get Hathaway into a similarly way-too-elaborate Na'vi costume. The actress shared photos of the process and the final product on Instagram, and mentioned that it took an hour and a half in hair and makeup.
The internet had fun with screen shots from the episode and made some memes before moving on, but these images of Anne Hathway are now always the first thing to pop into my head when anyone mentions Avatar or the upcoming sequels. A remastered version of Avatar is coming to theaters September 23 and the first sequel Avatar: The Way of Water opens December 16.
