Man Catches 77.5-Pound White Marlin And Wins $4.4M.
Jeremy Duffie of Bethesda, Maryland, has one heck of a fish story to tell. As a 2022 White Marlin Open participant, Duffie reeled in the winning fish…a 77.5-pound white marlin. The fish that tournament organizers are calling a world record also brought Duffie a $4.4M prize, which may be more.
Organizers say his award could climb to $4.5M after they add up the money from the unwon swordfish category. Duffie wasn’t the only big winner this year; Bill Britt of Sandy Spring, Maryland won $1.2M for a 511-pound blue marlin.

Quick story about the White Marlin Open.
As Alex may remember, I'm from Ocean City, Maryland, home of the White Marlin Open.
When I was 17, my buddy and I took a Blue Marlin mount from the boss's garage, put it into my buddy's little skiff, and got in line with the big boys for weigh-ins. A huge crowd of tourists around absolutely losing their minds. The locals knew it was just a mount and thought it was hilarious.
They put this picture on the front page of the local fishing paper as "The real winners of the White Marlin Open."
I thought you might like it.
The winners this year, Jon and Jeremy Duffie, are brothers and some of the best people. I went to school with them. They build sport fishing boats. Duffie Boats.
