Metallica Releases Chris Cornell Tribute Covers
Metallica is paying tribute to Chris Cornell.
As part of their Vinyl Club, the band has released special live recordings of two Soundgarden covers.
Metallica’s performances of “All Your Lies” and “Head Injury” were recorded at the “I Am The Highway” tribute concert in Los Angeles back in January 2019. The star-studded lineup also included Foo Fighters, Josh Homme, Audioslave, Taylor Momsen, Ryan Adams, Adam Levine, and more.
“Thank you for giving us something that inspired us, excited us, meant something, moved us, and not only gave us belief in the possibilities but turned us the f**k on,” says Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich. “What an honor to have known you, to have shared the stage with you and created next-level memories, and ultimately to have been included in the LA celebration of your life, to share with the world just how much your music and your brilliance meant to us.” Check out a clip of Metallica’s “All Your Lies” cover to the right.
- ONE MORE THING! Dimebag Darrell’s Estate Sues Dean Guitars
The estate of late Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell has called off his posthumous Dean Guitars endorsement… and sued the company. Dimebag’s bereaved girlfriend and estate trustee Rita Haney has announced that they’re suing Dean Guitars for fraud, breach of contract, and more.
Dimebag switched from endorsing Washburn Guitars to Dean shortly before his death in 2004. Eventually, Dean CEO Elliot Rubinson passed the baton to his son Evan… who Rita says took advantage of Dimebag, didn’t pay up on contracts, and was “incredibly disrespectful” of Dimebag’s legacy.
“Knowing Darrell’s wishes and seeing them written down after all these years solidifies that he would not have stayed,” her statement reads. “I made several attempts to amicably settle our dispute with Dean Guitars. However, it became clear to me that Dimebag’s relationship with Dean Guitars had come to an end when the new CEO told me that Dime has been dead for 16yrs, and they could not make the money they once did.. (so basically, he’s used up???)”
- In response, Dean Guitars has called Rita’s claims “baseless,” slamming her “unrealistic demands and accusations.”
- “We have always treated Dime and his brother Vinnie with the utmost respect and loyalty. We have enjoyed a long-standing, 17-year relationship with Dime and Vinnie, and continue that relationship with Vinnie's estate on the drum side,” Evan’s statement continues. “We are shocked and saddened to see the actions that Ms. Haney has taken after both the Abbott brothers have tragically passed away, and we wish her the best in her future endeavors.”
