Women Of 'The Suicide Squad': Lookin At Girlzz Spotlight

Warner Bros. and DC Films are taking another crack at a Suicide Squad movie, this time with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn at the helm. Not quite a reboot and not exactly a sequel to 2016's Suicide Squad, the new movie brings back a few cast members (Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang) and adds a massive number of new supervillains pressed into service for a secret government task force. The Suicide Squad hits theaters and HBO Max this weekend.

Let's take a closer look at some of the ladies involved in the action.

Margot Robbie

Australian movie star and two-time Academy Award nominee Margot Robbie has played Harley Quinn in the 2016 Suicide Squad movie and in last year's Birds of Prey. You know Robbie from The Wolf of Wall Street, Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood, and I, Tonya. Her portrayal of Harley was pretty much the only thing people liked about the last Suicide Squad movie. The fan-favorite super-villain character is a former Arkham psychologist who became obsessed with the Joker, helped him escape the asylum, and remade herself into the Clown Prince of Crime's sidekick-slash-love interest. Since breaking up with the Joker, she's determined to make it on her own as a super-criminal.

Daniela Melchior

The Portugese film and TV actress has appeared in several Portugese projects. The Suicide Squad is her first English-language movie. In the comics, Ratcatcher is a former exterminator with the ability to communicate with and train rats. He uses his talents to become a criminal in Gotham City. Melchior will be playing the daughter of the original Ratcatcher, who's taken on the name and started her own criminal career.

Mayling Ng

This English actress of Chinese-Singaporean and British heritage is also a black belt martial artist and body builder. She has previously appeared in Wonder Woman and Scorpion King: Book of Souls. Ng plays malevolent orange-skinned alien warrior Mongal in The Suicide Squad.

Jennifer Holland

American actress Jennifer Holland has been seen previously in American Horror Story, Zombie Strippers, and American Pie Presents: The Book of Love. She plays intelligence agent Emilia Harcourt in both The Suicide Squad and the upcoming spinoff series Peacemaker.
